FAQs

It’s only natural to want to know more before trusting me to help you recover from people pleasing. You’ll find a list of frequently asked questions and answers below.

When I talk about root cause healing, I mean instead of dealing with people pleasing at a symptom level (your thoughts and behaviours (e.g., over-giving and poor boundary setting), we go beneath this to find what is driving these thoughts and behaviours.

There are limiting beliefs, trapped emotions, past experiences, and fears that lie beneath these symptoms, driving people-pleasing. And it’s these we work with in the sessions so the compulsion to people please loosens its grip as the driving force weakens.

The subconscious is the part of our mind that works automatically. The subconscious mind is unconscious and contains a programme that runs on autopilot – this contains emotional responses, patterns of behaviour, habits and past experiences.

If what’s stored in the subconscious programme is negative or limiting, it will shape our experiences, reactions, choices, habits, and behaviours, creating more limiting and negative experiences.

But when we rewire the subconscious to make the programme more empowering, it creates more positive associations in your thinking and your life.

CBT and counselling work with the conscious mind. The work I do is at a subconscious level, getting to the root of why you developed the people pleasing behaviour in the first place and healing it there.

We don’t need to go into the story of what has happened with this modality; we need to let the subconscious mind lead, and it will give you what you need to work with in the session. I am your guide, and I support you throughout the session.

It’s impossible to say. I can’t guarantee how many sessions it will take to heal a discomfort. (A discomfort is one aspect of your people pleasing that you want to focus on in the session). This is because it very much depends on what you want to work on specifically, on what your subconscious mind feels safe to give you, and on how deeply rooted the issue is.

Some people have had transformative changes in one session, others need much longer, and others fall somewhere in between. You can see more information on my testimonials page

No, I don’t use hypnosis during the sessions.

I take my role holding space for you very seriously. So if you have certain significant mental health conditions, or significant unhealed childhood trauma, I may not be the best facilitator for you.

However, the best way to determine this is to book a connection call so we can discuss your individual circumstances.

The root cause healing approach is quite different to other approaches like counselling or mindset work. So if you have tried other things, a root cause approach will be a very different experience for you.

People pleasers put others first. They often feel guilty when they even think about putting themselves first and label it as selfish. They overgive, say yes when they mean no, take responsibility for other people’s emotions and comfort, and try to fix other people’s problems that aren’t their responsibility.

They tend to put themselves, their time, and their own energy at the bottom of the list and often compromise more than others do. They also fear speaking up and sharing their honest views and opinions for fear of not being liked. Being liked and accepted is a priority for a people pleaser.

It may do, but this would be within your own tolerance level. I work carefully with people to help them express what needs healing without it completely overwhelming them. The healing process requires us to feel what has remained unfelt and to reframe memories in a safe and supported setting.

It depends on how much your subconscious feels safe to give you, and how committed you are to changing and healing. Please see my testimonials page for past clients and the changes they experienced.

No, absolutely not. You gradually learn that you are as worthy and deserving as everyone else, and that you matter, so you can finally factor yourself into your life’s equation.

Root cause healing is deep work, and after a session you might feel tired and a little emotional. I choose to run my sessions online because it is important that you are comfortable, in your own home and don’t have to drive or travel anywhere after the session.

In addition, your subconscious mind will relax more and is likely to offer you more to work with if you are in a safe, familiar environment.

I can arrange this, but only where it has been agreed with me in discussion and is decided on a case-by-case basis.

Yes, I was exactly that and have recovered. It’s never too late to take action.
